Glo Premier League: Debutants at war in Jalingo

Six matches will be decided today in week 7 of the Glo Premier league across the country

- By Mike Oboh

Six match venues will witness action today in continuation of the on-going Glo Nigeria Premier League with the clash of the debutants in Jalingo as FC Taraba take on Giwa FC of Jos.

The new boys will light up the town where the eye-catching Shebshi Mountains are located. FC Taraba are early pacesetters of the four teams promoted to the elite division this season while Giwa FC are gradually getting into their stride.

Last season when both teams met in the second tier in this same fixture, FC Taraba won 1-0. Can they re-enact that? Or will Giwa FC claim their scalp?

In Ibadan,Crown FC will slug it out with the team from the crocodile city,Kaduna United.

Crown FC have a 100 percent home record having won all of their three opening games in Ibadan against Heartland, Dolphins and Gombe United. Pundits have already favoured Crown to win but Kaduna United have an interesting setup of players like their leading scorer, Isah Aminu, Ali Adamu and Siman Yusuf to count on.

Dolphins FC will be guest of Gombe United in Gombe. The north-east, especially Gombe, has not been a fruitful region for Dolphins in recent years. Both teams are on same number of points (seven) but Dolphins have a better goal difference.

Both sides have struggled to get off from the blocks and it is hoped that they will produce a spectacle in Pantami.

Nembe City that finally got their first point of the season when Warri Wolves forced them to a 1-1 in Omuku on Wednesday will confront Lob Stars in Katsina Ala

. Lobi have kept clean sheets in all of their three home matches this season and that means Nembe City will have to work hard to break them down.

CHAN star, Nanen Imenger, will lead the attack for Lobi with former Shooting Stars playmaker, Philip Asuquo, pulling the strings from midfield. Nembe City will surely need to be at their best to carve out a result from KatsinaAla.

Heartland FC which had it tough on their home soil will host El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in Owerri.

All three home games of Heartland have ended in draws setting the alarm bells on. But that appears to have been cushioned now with the draw at Kaduna United. El-Kanemi will definitely provide a different proposition.

Last season Heartland won this match 1-0. Owerri faithful will be hoping Heartland will take no prisoners this time at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. But El-Kanemi will want to prove a tough side to crack.

In Umuahia, gaint killers,Abia Warriors will play host to Sunshine Stars of Akure

Interestingly both teams have lost just once since the start of this season. Cletus Itodo will be rubbing his palms and hoping he gets one over his former club, Sunshine Stars.

Sunshine Stars will travel with a contingent of big-name players including CHAN star, Ebenezer Odunlami while Ikenna Hillary Paul is doubtful.
