EMIR OF KANO LEAVES UK HOSPITAL

- From Ismail Mudashir, Kano

Emirate sources say the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who left the ancient city of Kano months ago to seek medication abroad, is no longer at the hospital in the United Kingdom. Our correspondent reports that the Emir, who returned to the country in October 2013, after spending about four months on medical trip abroad, left the country again on February 27, this year on another similar journey. Since Bayero’s departure, information about health condition of the 83-year-old revered monarch has been sketchy.

However, our correspondent reliably gathered that the emir, who was accompanied by one of his sons, District Head of Nasarawa, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero and Alhaji Ujudu Sanusi on the trip has since left the UK hospital for his private residence in the kingdom. Speaking to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, a top emirate source said the emir only spent few days at the hospital.

“No date has been fixed for his return to the country. But he is okay. He has since left the hospital for his private residence in UK. He is resting there because of old age. The Emir’s condition is stable.

“The Emir is not suffering from any ailment that will warrant him to be hospitalised. He only requires close medical checks because of his old age. But let me inform you, our emir’s condition does not call for any alarm,” he said calling for prayers for the traditional ruler.
