Saraki: FG can’t solve Kwara problems

- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Ilorin

The Kwara State Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was yesterday conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner with the 35-man state executive emerging through consensus.

All the 35 new officers were picked without any challenger with the leader of the party and a former Governor Bukola Saraki declaring that with the peaceful manner the congress was conducted, the APC had already won the 2015 election.

Saraki, who spoke with newsmen after the congress, urged Kwarans not to be deceived by politicians in Abuja, saying Abuja cannot repair the problems of Kwara State.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had vowed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would re-capture Kwara in 2015.

The battle of supremacy between the APC and PDP deepened, following the recent defection of Saraki, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and their supporters from APC to the PDP. However, the national leadership of PDP vowed to recapture the State during a rally held recently to receive defectors from APC to PDP.

But Saraki insisted that APC would continue to rule the State beyond 2015, adding, “I use today to talk to Kwarans not let anybody deceive you. This is the party that will bring true development to the State. It is not a party of promises. It is only Kwarans that will repair Kwara. Abuja cannot come to Kwara. Abuja is too busy for Abuja’s problems. Kwarans will repair Kwara”.
