‘With unity, APC can defeat PDP in Jigawa’

- From Abdullahi Anako, Dutse

The Jigawa State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasiru Garba Dantiye yesterday said that if all the party stakeholders in Jigawa united and strategized, they could defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections.

Dantiye, who spoke with Sunday Trust, said the biggest challenge was unity. He stated that the failure of the PDP at the national level would make it easy for APC to win elections.

He said Governor Sule Lamido did not pose any threat to his party because right now the governor is neither in the PDP nor in the APC, adding that the supporters of Lamido will join APC in 2015 since he is no longer contesting. The APC State Organising Secretary also dismissed the recently launched Saminiyya movement, saying the group did not pose any threat as long APC stakeholders continued to work together.

“The People of Jigawa knows the record of Saminu Turaki and they will judge him base on that record. APC has credible candidates that can take Jigawa to the next level.

“Our challenge as we head to 2015 in Jigawa APC is unity among stakeholders. If we can make sacrifices regardless of our ambition, if we can unite and field credible candidates, we can easily defeat the PDP during the 2015 general elections in Jigawa. If you combine the votes of ACN,CPC and ANPP in the 2011 general elections, especially the result of the National Assembly election, it was more than the votes of the PDP,” he said.
