The truth about northern politicians

-

Northern politicians have several tricks they use in hoodwinking the ordinary people of the region into believing that they are doing all things to protect them. As a result of this, the people are always made to settle for crumbs. These politicians erroneously believe that the people are only struggling to make ends meet by whatever means possible. And they orchestrate their deceptive plans during elections.

As the 2015 general elections approach, these politicians are at what they know best, trying to hoodwink the people to vote for them. Is it not both surprising and annoying that politicians are playing politics with the security situation in some parts of the country. They want to use it to achieve cheap popularity. It is quite unfortunate.

It is ridiculous that people are hiding under the platform of the opposition to blame President Goodluck Jonathan for the unfortunate wave of insurgency in the North. But we have not forgotten how the same politicians gave countless reasons why Jonathan must emerge president in 2011. During that period, some of these politicians even had to change the name of the president from Goodluck Jonathan to

Mainasara. I remember how Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State sang the praises

of Goodluck ‘Mainasara’ Ebele Jonathan as the best thing that would happen to this country. He stood against the then candidate of the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), General Muhammadu Buhari. The question is: Why the sudden change on the part the governor and other politicians?

It is part of the antics of these northern politicians to discredit their opponents during election periods in order to secure the confidence of the electorate. They are not really working for the interest of the people. This is the truth about northern politicians.

It is time for the electorate to understand that the present day northern politicians only work for themselves and their families. They have deviated from the path of people-oriented politicians like Malam Aminu Kano, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello who had the wellbeing of the people at heart. We must know that they are only using us to acquire wealth and social status and not for the good of the region. Unfortunately, the only way they can achieve their aim is to embark on campaign of calumny. They even use the instrument of religion against their opponents. May the Almighty Allah have mercy on the people and make the politicians repent from their deceptive and evil ways.
