Anambra APC gets new exco
Emeka Ibe, a lawyer, has emerged as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State. Ibe, emerged through consensus arrangement, at yesterday’s State Congress.
Others, who were also elected at the congress, included Chukwuma Agufugo (Secretary), Mrs Onyinye Okongwu (Treasurer), Okelo Madukaife (Publicity Secertary),Engineer Emeka Nnodu, (Financial Secretary), Emma Chikelu (Legal Adviser), Mr. Obidike (Auditor) and Mrs Calista Nwachukwu (Women Leader).
35 seats were contested in the election in which 2007 delegates participated.
Announcing the winners, the State Congress committee Chairman Ogbuehi Ezenna said the harmonization exercise that took place led to the emergence of the state executive of the party at the Congress held at Ekwueme Square, Awka, the state capital.
Speaking after his election, the new State APC Chairman, Ibe pledged to carry everybody along, saying he would work to ensure that APC became the party to beat in the State.
Also speaking, the leader of the party in the State and Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Chris Ngige said the peaceful nature of the congress was an indication of the progressive nature of the party.
Describing the APC as a party for the progressives, the senator said the party would uplift the poor masses and ensure provision of amenities and social security for the aged, the less privileged and the unemployed.
He predicted that APC would form the next government, saying the incessant insurgent attacks were due to poor leadership.
