resident-elect of Nigeria General Muhammadu Buhari has expressed appreciation to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State and the entire people of the state for what he called their ‘consistent support’ to his political career and to the APC during the last presidential and National Assembly elections.

General Buhari spoke when Governor Gaidam led a delegation of Yobe APC politicians to congratulate him on his victory at the polls. Gaidam’s delegation included senators and members of the House of Representatives from Yobe State, as well as state legislators and other APC politicians.

General Buhari said although he did not visit Yobe State during his presidential campaign outings, he was confident of support from Yobe because the people of the state have been consistent in their support of him.

“Those who have followed the relationship knew that Yobe did the same in 2007. They asked me to go and fight for election elsewhere, that Yobe’s support for me is assured. Even when I left the ANPP in 2011 and went to the CPC, they supported me. And that’s what happened in this election. They have been consistent and steadfast”, he said.

General Buhari also thanked Governor Gaidam for “maintaining the relationship at the highest level”. On his part, Governor Gaidam extolled General Buhari’s steadfastness and leadership and congratulated him for his victory at the polls. “This victory is not just for the APC. It is a victory for our dear nation. Every Nigerian who desires peace and progress is happy with your election as our nation’s next president”, Gaidam said.

The governor prayed Almighty Allah to grant the President-elect wisdom and support as he leads Nigeria through the years ahead.
