Orubebe takes more bashing for disruption of results

- By Eseohe Ebhota

During the week on Tuesday March 31st 2015 when Nigeria’s electoral body the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reconvened to announce the results from other states, an agent of the incumbent ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and former minister of the Niger-Delta Ministry Elder Godswill Orubebe barged into the International Conference Centre (ICC) and challenged the INEC Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega accusing him of being partial, biased and tribalistic. In his words, Orubebe said “Jega is not supposed to be biased. He is not supposed to be tribalistic.”

His behaviour which has been described as unruly however caused a heavy traffic online as Nigerians expressed their disappointments at him. This is what they had to say:

Saheedl: He should be happy that Jega accepted Rivers results even though everyone knows elections did not hold but Wike cooked the books. Even the prof presenting Rivers state was not confident.

Soblessed: Thank you Prof Jega for the job well done and for refusing to be intimidated by anyone. You truly love Nigeria.

Wehingo: And these are the kind of people leading us, thanks to God for coming to our aid with the change of power if not I don’t really know where or hoe Nigeria would be in the next coming four years.

Charlotte: Thank God other parties were calm. We would not resort to violence in the face of this provocation.

Julius: PDP don lose their everlasting minds. Last plan to disrupt the fatal announcement of their defeat. It also has failed.

Okey: No, that is wrong. Absolutely wrong. Even though I consider Jega’s refusal last Saturday to accept the Rivers State vote, Orubebe’s manifestation before the INEC Chairman is totally objectionable. And I denounce it.
