Jumoke Verissimo returns with
Following the success of her 2008 debut poetry collection, I am Memory, Nigerian writer and editor, Jumoke Verissimo has a new book rolling off the press.
Her sophomore, The Birth of Illusion is published by Khalams Books and contains some 61 scintillating poems split into three sections.
The poems touch on themes like death, terrorism, loss, love an fear and more.
Fittingly, British poet, Giles Goodland described the collection as “terrifying, angry and passionate poems.”
Poetry lovers will be interested in finding out what Verissimo has been up to in the seven years since the publication of her award winning debut, I am Memory. That book won several awards including the Carlos Idzia Ahmad Prize for Best First Book of Poetry among others.
The Birth of Illusion will be launched at the Lagos Arts and Book Festival, LABAF in November 2015.
