UniJos feasts on Chukwuemeka Ike’s Toads for Supper
The University of Jos is planning what it described as a ‘major literary event’ to celebrate 50 years of publishing by iconic writer Chukwuemeka Ike.
The celebration tagged: Eating Toads for Supper : University of Jos Celebrating Chukwuemeka Ike as a Writer is billed to come up at the university’s Multipurpose Auditorium on the 5th of October, 2015.
Chukwuemeka Ike published his first novel, Toads for Supper in 1965 (Harvill Press, London) and followed that five years later with Naked Gods. In the last 50 years, Ike has authored eight novels, including Expo ’77, an expose’ on exam malpractices in Nigeria and the famous The Bottled Leopard, published in 1985 to critical acclaim.
