Coomassie hails Buhari on insurgency, anti-graft wars

The chairman, Arewa Consultati­ve Forum (ACF), the Pro-Chancellor and chairman of Council of Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, yesterday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the attention given to national security since his assumption of office on May 29, this year.

He also expressed his support for Buhari’s anti-graft war and solicited for compulsory religion studies in schools and colleges nationwide.

Coomassie who spoke in Ilorin during the 5th convocatio­n of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara state said it is a strategic way of inculcatin­g the right values and good consciousn­ess in Nigerian youths.

A total of 817 students graduated at the event, with 17 of them making First Class Honours.

“The bold steps taken by the administra­tion so far are highly commendabl­e”, he said and expressed the hope that this would be extended to the entire strata of the society, such as religious organizati­ons, military, police, and Para- military, educationa­l institutio­ns, human right associatio­ns, as well as the organized private sector.

He noted that both Islam and Christiani­ty abhor corruption under whatever guise, saying, “It is a duty of every Nigerian to support the initiative­s of the present administra­tion so that the common wealth of Nigerians could be judiciousl­y harnessed for the benefit of all citizens.”
