NABTEB: 38,000 candidates pass English, Maths
The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has released the 2016 May/ June National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examination result.
The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ifeoma Mercy IsuigoAbanihe, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Benin City.
She said a total of 69,472 candidates enrolled for the examination, 38,280 candidates recorded five credits in English language and Mathematics while 54,485 got five credits and above with or without English language and Mathematics.
“Out of the 69,472 candidates that sat for the examination, 2,273 candidates representing 3.32 percent were involved in examination malpractice,” she said.
She said the board would verify the script of the candidates involved in examination malpractice, assuring that appropriate sanction would be meted out to those found wanting. The Registrar said NABTEB is determined to fill the vacuum in the technological acquisition and development of the country, calling for full implementation of the new basic curriculum.
While calling for more collaboration between the public and private sector in promoting technical and vocational education, she said NABTEB was working with stakeholders to come up with a policy on technical education and improve students’ enrolment.
