Bwari council chairman distributes books, agric inputs

- By Maureen Onochie

The Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Musa Dikko, has distributed 50,000 exercise books to primary school pupils across the ten wards in the council.

Dikko, during flagoff of the exercise at the council secretariat, said the gesture was part of his administration’s efforts to ensure that children of the area get quality education.

He noted that due to the economic hardship in the country, some parents could not afford to buy books for their children.

Responding, the LEA Secretary, Bwari Area Council, Mr. Solomon Ayuba, thanked the chairman for his passion for educational development and promised transparency and fairness in the distribution of the books.

Similarly, Dikko also distributed 850 bags of fertilizer, 946 bottles of herbicide and sprayers to farmers in the council at a discounted rate.

The chairman said the gesture was to encourage farmers as a result of the high price of fertilizers, agrochemical and other farming inputs.

He further called on the farmers to practice dry season farming, adding that his administration will continue to support agriculture. The farmers commended Dikko for the gesture and promised to ensure that Bwari Area Council maintained its status as the food basket of the F.C.T.

Earlier, Alhaji Jibrin Shaba, who represented the acting Secretary, Area Council Service Secretariat, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, praised the Bwari Area Council chairman for the gesture and charged others to emulate him.
