Olukokun targets continental action with 3SC next season
Shooting Stars of Ibadan striker Najeem Olukokun fondly known as ‘Olugoal’ says he’s targeting a top three finish in the NPFL with the Oyo state based club this season which will enable them to take part in any of the two continental championships next term.
In a chat with Fever Pitch, Olugoal added that Shooting have banished the spirits of last season which almost led to them being relegated from the top flight, believing that the positive energy currently obtainable within the team will see them achieve wonders this time around.
“Last season was a forgettable one for us at 3SC but this season we have sets targets and personally I feel we can make it to the continent next season because the spirit is high in the squad and we are all eager to make amends for last season.” The player said.
Olugoal’s teammate Bode Daniel has also charged his colleagues to improve on scoring more goals after winning one of their opening four games.
The fforward noted that the Ibadan outfit needed a little bit of luck but insisted that the team creates a lot of clear cut chances which must be converted.
“We have been playing very well but the goals have always being the game changer,” Daniel told Goal.
“I am optimistic that we shall improve on converting those chances that come our way. We are working on that already and hopefully it’ll reflect in upcoming matches.”
Shooting Stars face ABS FC in a Week Five NPFL tie today and he noted that the team has moved on from previous games.
“We have moved on from those previous losses on the road. We know that this is a league and there are more matches to be played,” he added.
“We might not be 100% perfect as regards the results we’ve gotten so far but we are going to do our best and give it all it takes to make sure we don’t disappoint our fans who have been very fantastic.”
