Bello says no major concern over Pillars’poor away form
Kano Pillars defender Zaharadeen Bello believes Masu Gida’s poor away form this season is nothing to worry about at this time considering the season is still in its infant stages and there are many away games still to play.
The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner, who has impressed since his debut for the three time NPFL champions last season says Pillars away results have been decided by little unfavourable details so far expressing confidence that positive results would soon follow starting from today’s tie against MFM.
“It’s something we are not happy about but at the same time we are working very hard with the belief that the results will start changing any moment. The season is still young and if you look at our away games so far, we’ve been let down by very little details.” Bello said.
Kadiri Ikhana’s men would be hoping to arrest their poor away record when they visit the Olukoya Boys in Agege this afternoon.
Masu Gida lost to Sunshine Stars of Akure on Wednesday and this has left them in seventh position with six points, one point below their opponents. Those points have come in home victories against FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Shooting Stars. Their other way defeat came in week two at Lobi Stars.
The Olukoya Boys will be heading into this tie on the back of a 1-1 draw against Shooting Stars in midweek. MFM took a first half lead through Sikiru Olatunbosun, who netted his second goal of the season. They held on to that lead for much of the game but conceded a penalty in the dying minutes which was tucked home by Adebayo Abayomi.
For today’s match, MFM will be relying on the likes of Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun who have consistently delivered the goals while Pillars have in their ranks the experienced Gambo Mohammed and Rabiu Ali.
