Jesus to start again as City host in form Swansea

-

Swansea will travel to Manchester with no fear after winning at Liverpool recently and should give their hosts a serious test of their title aspirations. Manchester City will have sniffed a renewed chance of Premier League glory after they cut their deficit to leaders Chelsea to 10 points with a 4-0 win away to West Ham on Wednesday.

It remains a long shot for Pep Guardiola’s side to capture the title, 12/1 with BetStars to be precise, but they will consider themselves capable of going on a strong run over the next few months that would give them a chance if there happened to be an implosion at Chelsea.

They are unlikely to find it as straightforward, however, against Swansea as they did at the London Stadium because the Welsh club have certainly improved since Paul Clement became their manager, there can be little doubt about that.

The appointment of Carlo Ancelotti’s former assistant raised eyebrows considering he had lasted little more than half a season in charge of Derby County in the Championship, but back-to-back wins away to Liverpool and at home to Southampton represent a terrific early impact.

As a result, Swansea are out of the relegation zone and while still very much in the dogfight, their current form is better than that of any other club in the bottom seven of the table – and a few more higher up, for that matter.

Plus, Clement has new signings waiting to be brought in and while striker Jordan Ayew will not be available yet following his exploits with Ghana at the African Cup of Nations, there could be more action for Dutch winger Luciano Narsingh who made his debut against Southampton.

The way both of these teams are performing it’s easy to see a few goals being scored, but Swansea are likely to fall short of repeating their Anfield heroics against a Manchester City side who may just be hitting top gear again.
