The wife of the president, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has called on Nigerians not to relent in prayers and good deeds. Mrs. Buhari made the call yesterday on her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from Saudi Arabia where she had performed lesser hajj.

The Director of Information in the Office of the Wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, in a statement, said Mrs. Buhari prayed for peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, the nation’s leaders and the citizenry.

She thanked all Nigerians for supporting her husband’s administration, asking them to sustain the tempo.

‘’I want to use this opportunity to thank all Nigerians for the goodwill and support for my husband and Nigeria in general,” she said.

The president’s wife said while in the holy land, she also prayed for the peace, stability and progress of Nigeria.

According to the statement, Mrs. Buhari who arrived the airport at about 3:15pm, was received by the wife of the Senate President, Toyin Saraki, Kebbi and Kogi states’ governors’ wives and those of service chiefs as well as a former deputy governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Pauline Tallen.

Also, a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerians of all faiths to lift up President Buhari in prayers.

The former Vice President, in a statement issued in Abuja, noted that each and every one is a mere mortal, irrespective of how great or highly accomplished we are.

“We deserve the care and support of one another in trying times,” the chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also said.

He reminded Nigerians that President Buhari needs all the prayers and goodwill that he can get at this time, to enable him return from his medical vacation in the UK and continue with his Godordained assignment of steering Nigeria to her next level of greatness.

Atiku also implored Nigerians to stop rumour mongering and to instead channel that energy into praying for God to strengthen the President and his family.

President Buhari has said would not return to the country until doctors are satisfied with his condition.

The President in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki extending his vacation, said the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo would continue to act on his behalf till his arrival.

The letter sighted by Daily Trust on Sunday was personally signed by the President and dated February 8, 2017.

It reads: “Further to my letter dated 18th January, 2017 I notified the Distinguished Senate of taking part of my annual leave.

“During my leave, I took the opportunity to have routine check-ups and consult my long standing doctors in London in the course of the routine examinations, certain test result indicated the need for a course of medications and certain appointments have been scheduled for next week.

“I am therefore, notifying the Distinguished Senate, that I am extending my leave until the doctors are satisfied that certain factors are ruled out in the circumstances. The Vice President will continue to act on my behalf,” the letter stated.
