Suicide bombers killed in botched mosque attack

- From Uthman Maiduguri Abubakar,

Agroup of Muslim faithful in Juddumari village of Jere Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday intercepted two suspected female suicide bombers who headed to a mosque to attack worshipers during the sun rise (Subh) prayer.

Our correspondent reports that the bombers, who were the only casualties of the blasts, could not reach their target mosque. Shortly before the prayer started, some worshipers sighted two girls approaching and ordered them to go back, but one of them detonated her explosives. The Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Victor Isuku, confirmed the incident explaining that the female suicide bombers strapped Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to their bodies.

“They were intercepted and prevented by the Muslim worshippers. In the process, one of them detonated her vest, killing both of them and injuring five others,” he said.
