Nasarawa ADP exco passes vote of no confidence on chairman

- From Hassan Ibrahim, Lafia

The State Working Committee of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Nasarawa State yesterday passed a vote of no confidence on its chairman, Senator Yusuf Musa Nagogo.

The committee passed the vote of no confidence in Lafia, shortly after a meeting. The decision was conveyed in a letter addressed to the national chairman of ADP and signed by the state deputy chairman, Yusuf Ishaku and 20 others.

The executive members accused Senator Nagogo of anti-party activities, saying he is with the Peoples’ Democratic Movement (PDM) and that, that is why his posters across the state do not carry the party’s logo.

The exco alleged that the chairman refused to address the press or allow a press conference to hold to tell people of the state about the ADP.

The exco further informed the national chairman that Nagogo has not held any meeting since the formation of the party last May.

Part of the letter read thus: “we sincerely pray that the national chairman of our great party will quickly relay this vote of no confidence to the Nasarawa State chairman of ADP, Senator Yusuf Musa Nagogo and other organs of the party for further action.”

Reacting, the embattled chairman of the party, Senator Musa Nagogo, debunked all the allegations, saying the executive members violated the party’s guidelines and constitution.

He added that the decision is null and void, “because the meeting was ill-informed. Also, executive members of the party from the northern zone of the state were not invited to the meeting”.
