Can I continue my oral hypoglycaemics?

I am a diabetic. I have been on Daonil and Glucophage for two years. I am currently two months pregnant. What do I do? Madam Toyin, Lokoja

What is your current sugar level? When did you do fasting blood sugar last? I think you need to see your obstetrician and endocrinologist. Pregnancy is diabetogenic itself. Therefore, controlling blood sugar poses more challenge during pregnancy. Most likely you may need to be converted to insulin injection.

Although there is evidence now to support oral hypoglycemics in pregnancy, but one has to tread with caution.
