2017 Kano Polo Fiesta: Emir of Kano Cup Takes Centre Stage

The on-going Kano ’2017 Internatio­nal Polo Tournament which enters its final stages this week is bracing for one of its major highlights with the finals of the Emir of Kano Cup making all the major headlines ahead of its Sunday date.

The royal prize played in honour of the Emir of Kano; HRH Sanusi Lamido 11 remains the biggest prize in the prestigiou­s polo extravagan­za and this year, former champions, Keffi Ponys will take on former champions, Kano Lintex in a royal rumble, to decide who wears the Kano royal crown.

Jostling in the 89 year old internatio­nal polo festival which entered its second week is getting more exciting after host Kano dominated the first stage, leaving visiting Kaduna, Katsina, Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan to share the crumbs of the first stages.

Subsidiary cups lined up for grabs in the second and final stage of the exciting Kano polo festival include the glittering Usman Dantata Cup, the Governor Cup and the legendary Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Cup, whose final will draw the curtain on the prestigiou­s polo extravagan­za.

Emir Sanusi Lamido 11, who is a grand patron of Kano Polo Club, is expected to lead other first class Emirs across the northern region to the grand finale of the fiesta that has been attracting top corporate chieftains and polo enthusiast­s in their thousands since it galloped off with fanfare Wednesday.
