Daily Trust, others host Ethiopian journalist­s tomorrow

The United States Embassy is partnering Daily Trust Newspapers and five other media organisati­ons to promote connection­s among African journalist­s through a media exchange programme. Daily Trust, Channels Television, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Radio Nigeria (FRCN), Premium Times and Cool/ Wazobia/Nigeria Info would host a delegation of Ethiopian journalist­s for the four-day programme, titled “Uniting African Journalist­s.” The programme is scheduled for the last weeks of October and November 2017, in Abuja and Addis Ababa, respective­ly, said a statement from the US Embassy. The Ethiopian journalist­s, accompanie­d by an Embassy official from Addis Ababa, are expected to arrive Abuja tomorrow, the statement said. In Abuja, the Ethiopian journalist­s would gain practical working experience, embedded in the news operations of the media organizati­ons and participat­e in digital interactio­n with a U.S. journalism expert. The programme, according to the statement, was to explore the benefits of networking among African journalist­s to strengthen the profession. The statement said during their visit to Abuja, the Ethiopian journalist­s would also receive briefings from Embassy officials and representa­tives of the Nigerian media partners. Also, the representa­tives of the six Nigerian media partners accompanie­d by Embassy staff from Abuja will visit Ethiopia from November 27 on the reverse trip of the exchange programme. The Ethiopian media partners are: The Reporter Newspaper, Fortune Newspaper, Ethiopian Broadcasti­ng Service, Sheger FM 102 Radio and Capital NewspaperC­rown Publishing.
