Christian leaders should fund pilgrimage - Commission
The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has called on Christian leaders and privileged Nigerians blessed with the resources to fund pilgrimage and the commission’s activities. He made the call during the dinner and awards night organized by the Commission at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja.
Rev. Uja pleaded with the wealthy to assist in sponsoring less privileged persons instead of asking for free tickets to travel to the Holy Land.
“I want to appeal to Christian leaders, who have the means, to sponsor pilgrimages and to even fund NCPC’s activities.
“They should help us fund our camp construction, help us build some of our infrastructure and help us to also establish safe houses in Greece and Rome,’’ he said.
He added that the commission was committed to drawing out pilgrimage programmes that would refocus pilgrimage, make it engaging, enterprising and effective in building a new spiritual and mental framework.
The NCPC boss stated that the commission was presenting awards of excellence to board members, staff, service providers and stakeholders for their efforts towards making pilgrimage exercises a success.
Awards categories include NCPC outstanding staff awards, distinguished pilgrimage leadership award among others.
