My husband has been my backbone and my support

-

that was challenging. I came back to UDU and told them I wanted to go for a PhD. They told me to submit my proposal. I submitted and they said they didn’t have anybody that would supervise me: that the only doctor they had in that area was a junior doctor and could not really supervise a PhD candidate. They advised that I should leave my proposal behind and when they had external supervisors they would expose my proposal and see if any of them would be interested in picking me as a student.

Then somebody from Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Danjumah Maiwada, came and saw my proposal and said they should call me. I came for an interaction with him and he said he was ready to supervise me but he advised that instead of getting admission at UDU I should go to BUK. I applied and got the admission. So, it has been one episode leading to the other but for me to say from secondary school or NCE that I had planned to be this, honestly, no. Once something is destined to happen, they would have somebody or something being instrumental to having that happen.

My secondary school life, my NCE period; most especially when I remember the long hall. I always moved with my friends. It is a life that I will never forget; so interesting.

The first happiness when you are married is for you to experience the missing of your period, it becomes a new world, you are now entirely a different person and that is the joy of every girl: to conceive. Once you conceive, you are blessed by the Almighty, but then you will remember that this blessing is not just that you are blessed to give birth to a child, but there are so many responsibilities that you would be asked on how you carried them out.

Motherhood is not an easy task and it is a task that cannot be done effectively by an ignorant mother; you have to possess an element of education before you can really be a good mother.

Although some are born with the skills, but there are certain things that would be your guiding principles. I say it always that your religion is first.

Having to raise six children is not easy. Each child has his or her peculiarity, even if they are twins, there are some individual differences. So having to raise six children, five boys at the beginning and then a daughter at the end, is not easy. I was used to raising boys, so my daughter is just like one of them.

It was a kind of family affair. His father was a friend, he grew up in the house, he was just part of the family and that was how it started. So, he was just like a brother to me and it ended up in marriage.

Understanding and always ready to help me; he has been my backbone and my support. He was the one that got the degree form for me.

The first and foremost, how I wish I can turn around the missed glory of education in Sokoto State so that in just a day or two, Sokoto State would be listed among the top highly educated and not backward state.

The second is I wish all girls have the opportunity to be educated.

My third is how our people, especially the workforce, can be sincere and dedicated to their responsibilities so that we would have a workforce in the state that meets the needs of the state.

The fourth-how I wish that the days I have ahead would be better than the days I left behind.

My fifth, I wish my last breath would be the kalimah of Lailah illah Muhammadu Rasululillah.

Do I even open any application first in the morning? Honestly after prayers, first is to recite some of the verses of the Quran and the last is also to recite some verses of the Holy Quran.

I look at the internet when I have something to google, maybe I have any assignment to do or I have something that I really want to find the technical know-how: I just google. Rings, earrings and necklace. I like heels, may be because I am short. Short knickers outside.

I don’t have any favourite travel destination, but I like travelling. I travel a lot.

Sometimes, I relax just lying down and meditating. Sometimes, I pick something to read.

I have a favourite quote and whenever I have the opportunity of saying it, I say it. God said in the Holy Quran that He has created Jinns and humans simply for them to worship Him. Tuwon shinkafa and miyan sure

In this case, it’s my father’s advice. He used to say, “I am not that very rich but whatever I have, I can spend it on your education and once you hold on to your education, you will never go astray and you will never find hardship. I advise you to be very trustworthy and not to harm anybody and nobody will harm you.” Purple Avensis I was into hockey, but I like volleyball. I like cold weather. Maybe Wednesday because it is my day.

My role model has been my mother because she taught me so many things, and it is not just the teaching aspect, but she was doing what she wanted us to do. So we see her, and we emulate her. She has been my role model from day one to today that I am talking to you.

The second one, I remember those that have been rendering service to humanity, I look at Nana Fatima and her Yan Taru movement, and what she has been doing with the womenfolk, and I try as much as possible to also follow that line.

The third is Nana Aisha, the wife of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), so I also follow her teachings, her sayings and how she was able to keep her husband very dear to her. I don’t have. I don’t wear make-up. I am as plain and natural as anything.

Just be yourself, be sincere, be hardworking and be determined, anywhere you find yourself, try as much as possible to put in your best and always be prayerful.

American actress, Kerry Washington, popularly known for her role as Olivia Pope in ABC’s hit show Scandal, exchanged tweets with American Igbo actress, Uzor Aduba in Igbo.

Fans were quite surprised with social media buzzing over the exchange in which she said, “Ncheta Ubochiomumugi. Ekelediri Chineke.” (Happy Birthday. Glory be to God.)

Washington is married to Nigerian NFL player, Nnamdi Asomugha with two children.

This shows how Nigerian languages and cultures are quickly stepping their way in all parts of the world.
