ONLINE IGP should appear before Senate

- Kamardeen Ismail

Senators are there to make laws and not to investigate criminals. But that is the constitutional duty of the police and the IGP. He should be allowed to do his work.

Zakari Sanda Umar

Please, the man should be allowed to do his job. There are many security issues begging for his attention and that is what concerns the masses. Whatever the Senate has against him should be tackled through another channel.

Gabriel Oluyinka Abiona

The IGP is wrong for not appearing before the Senate. We must understand that the Senate is not just an institution, but also the highest law making body of the country. He should have shown the body respect by honouring the invitation.

Elom Tochukwu Appearing before the Senate is not his priority. The security challenges in the nation are topmost on his agenda. Muhd Kabir Mashi The IGP should lead by example. Failing to appear before the Senate does not speak well of a man in his position.

Tonye Brown

Why is the Senate taking this matter too seriously? Is Dino Melaye more important that the security issues we are having?

Isah Mahmud

No matter what the senators do, the IGP is not going anywhere.

Abdullahi Isah Vulegbo

He should be made to understand that the Senate has a right to summon him.

Oluwagbemi Sholadoye Moses I don’t think the IGP will appear before the Senate. Hamisu Abu Fadima

Nobody is too big to be invited by the Senate. Nothing will happen to the IGP if he honours the invitation. The faceoff is unnecessary.

Moses Katung before the Senate. I don’t think they will keep him there forever; it will just be for a few hours.

Obori Moshood

I am in support of the IGP. Let him focus on his core duties.

Sa’ad Saidu Muhammad

It will be better for him to appear rather than take the matter to court. He should just go there and answer questions put to him. It is not as if he will be held hostage.

David Gram

It is important for the IGP to appear before the Senate, so that he can explain the spate of attacks across the country. Things have gone from bad to worse and we need to know what he is doing to address the problem.

Mohammed Umar It is better for the IGP to appear and clear whatever concerns the Senate has. Sani Alasawa Majia

Nobody is above the law. He should appear before the Senate.

Ahmediman Wacus

What is all the talk about? How many hours will it take for the IGP to appear before the Senate and answer the questions put to him? The forth and back is unnecessary.

John Caleb What is the IGP afraid of? After all it is said that an innocent man has nothing to fear. Mohammed Aminu Umar

Nigerians will respect him more if he appears before the Senate. He should not create the impression that he is above the law. Such behaviour will also embolden other people who may want to disregard the law. As a police officer, he should set good examples.

Ator Shamar

He will one day be out of office and he will be judged by the way he behaved. The IGP should appear before the Senate, since it is the highest law making body in the country.

Alade Oluwadare Victor lawmakers. Jabir Muhammad

This attitude can be termed gross misconduct by a top government official. It is not good at all.

Abu F. Isaac

In a decent, law abiding society, we will not be hearing things like this. Why would a government official refuse to appear before the Senate? It is not proper.

Sabo Alh Bukar

The current National Assembly is doing its best to address issues affecting the masses. Those that are encouraging the IGP will soon regret their actions.

Louis Ifeanyi

Why so much noise about the IGP’s refusal to appear before the Senate? The senators are the real enemies of democracy, how long did it take them to pass the budget?

Ibrahim Suleiman I wish they could scrap this Senate, so that we can all rest.
