Soaring to greater heights

-

Academic background I started primary education in Toungo Primary School, Yola, after which I proceeded to Government Girls’ Secondary School, also in Yola. I got married after secondary school and joined my husband in Zaria. He was a student in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). I was with him when I got admission into ABU where I bagged a diploma in Graphic Design. When he graduated we came back to Yola and I joined the civil service in the then Gongola State, now Adamawa. I later went back for my degree in the University of Maiduguri and graduated in 1992. Career background I was employed as a teacher in Government Girls’ Secondary School, Yola, where I worked for 10 years and was posted to a commission for women, where I stayed for three years. When the Ministry of Women Affairs was created, I graduated from the commission to the ministry and continued as a women development officer, then I rose to the rank of a permanent secretary. On getting to that rank I was posted to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry. I stayed there for two years and was posted back to the Ministry of Women Affairs, where I am today. Challenges of life It is necessary for everyone to face challenges. I faced some challenges when I lost my husband. He left me with six children, but, Alhamdulillah, I thank the almighty Allah for the way I am coping with life through the help of my family. Most of my children have graduated. It is only my last child who is in secondary school that is yet to graduate. About four of them are married. I thank Allah for that. Life lessons I have learnt that it is good to be contented with whatever you have and thank God for whatever happens. I believe in fate and destiny - whatever comes my way or happens is from God. Most rewarding part of my career

The most rewarding part of my career is getting the position of a permanent secretary. I feel it is the peak of my is a what life l l
