This took place at their maiden art exhibition on mental health in Kado, Abuja, earlier this week. According to the host, Mr. Otikpa Chisom Victor, who spoke on the benefit of art therapy. The event is a platform for artists to express themselves an depict experiences which are hard to put into words. The art therapist added that, using art can sometimes help people with anger and aggression, and also provide safe ways of dealing with unacceptable feelings.

“Art therapy involves the use of different art media through which a patient can express and work through the issues and concerns that have brought him or her into therapy,” he said.

The theme of the exhibition ‘Out from the dark’ was aimed to increase awareness of the therapeutic values of art in Mental Health. The theme also implies the “impending, fascinating and illuminating journey from past to present and future.”
