15 Reasons for the incarnation

-

Why the virgin birth incarnation? God never does anything without a good reason, and in this case, there were some fourteen excellent reasons for the incarnation. He did not come into existence the day he was born, unlike us. He merely became flesh. He incarnated. John 1:1-14

1. To reveal the invisible God (John 1:18 “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him”; 14:9 “Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”). The proof of a manufacturer is a product; the proof of an author is a book; the proof of a father is a son. The proof of a heavenly Father is the Son born without an earthly Father.

2. To fulfil prophecy (Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”).

3. It was the only legal way God could get involved. Why was it necessary for Jesus to become a man?

Jesus had to become a man because of God’s integrity - in order for Him not to break His Word. He gave the earth to man (Psalm 115:16, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.”) He needs your permission to get involved. Prayer authorizes Him to get involved. Your praise and prayer empower God to intervene in your situation.

In the book of Genesis 1:26 the Bible says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

The Amplified version says let them have “complete authority.” The NIV says, let them rule. Let them rule means 5 things It establishes… a The official authority of man on earth. b Limitation of heaven on earth. c Right to power on earth. d The priority and the purpose of your physical body.

e The need for the physical body Hebrews 10:5, Psalm 115:16-“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s but the earth hath He given to the children of men.” Hebrews 10:5“Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He said, SACRIFCE AND OFFERING THOU WOULDST NOT, BUT A BODY HAST THOU PREPARED ME.”

The only creatures that have authority over the earth is man = Ish (which means spirit), Adam = dark earth; Ish in dark earth.

The only creature that God gave authority to on earth is the human = humus + spirit i.e. spirit in human body. Satan does not have a body; so he needed a body to operate through. That is the reason the bible says present not your bodies as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin…

4. To guarantee the Davidic covenant. The Davidic covenant assured David that someday an heir from his own seed would rule over Israel on his throne forever (2Samuel 7:8 - 17, Luke 1:31 - 33).

5. To make a sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 2:9 “9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”; 10:4 “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”, 5, 10, 12, 1John 3:5, Mark 10:45 “45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”).

6. To reconcile man to God (2Corinthians 5:19 “19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself…” Hebrews 2:17, 1Timothy 2:5, 6). This is a good opportunity for you if you have not been reconciled. Do not wait till tomorrow, do it now!

7. To provide an example for believers (1Peter 2:21 tells us Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps…). Christ came to show us that it is possible for man to live a life of obedience to God. He demonstrated man’s God-given authority over creation, demons, diseases death and every conceivable human situation.

8. To provide the believer with a high priest (Hebrews 2:17 “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”; 3:1).

9. To destroy the devil and his works. “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.” works (Hebrews 2:14, 1John 3:8). 10. To escape the historical curse a. Upon Adam’s seed (Romans 5:12,“Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”)

b. Upon King Jehoiakim and his son, Jehoiachin. Both these wicked rulers, Jehoiakim (Jeremiah 36:30) and Jehoiachin (Jeremiah 22:30) were judged by God and warned that their physical seed would never prosper upon the throne of David.

11. To heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18).

12. To set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18).

13. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18)

14. To give life - abundant life (John 3:36; 10:10).

15. To glorify the Father (John 13:31 “… and God is glorified in him.” 14:13; 17:4 “4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”) Our Greatest Need If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.

If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.

If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Saviour.

It is imperative that you surrender your life to Jesus if you have not already done so. Heaven is real, hell is real.

I wish you and your family a glorious yuletide season, in Jesus name.
