“THE SUCCESS OF ONE’S LIFE IS NOT ONE’S WORTH, BUT WHAT ONE WILL BE WHEN ONE DIES.”

- TAMBARI

Favourite food I would classify myself a vegetarian. I love all kinds of salads. Definition of style I love being me. Favourite fashion designer I see many fashion designers in Nigeria doing great things, but I prefer being me and creating my own designs. Favourite perfume I love Blue Oud.

Mum’s advice that stuck with you over the years?

She always said, “Umma idan kika dauka duniya dayawa, zaki ci ki rage ta. Idan kuma kika dauka kadan, zata ce, Umma kara ni.” This roughly translates to, “If you are greedy about worldly things you will eat and remain, and if you take it little by little, the world will offer more to you. Favourite sport, colour, car and weather I love badminton and basketball. I love blue and sometimes red. I am not really a car person, and I love the rainy season. Favourite day of the week and why I love weekends because I get to spend time with my husband and children. Weekends give us some bonding time. Beauty routine I don’t really have one. I am just a simple mum. I have nothing out of the box. Role model My father, because I knew him very little; but I was lucky to read a lot of his writings and what he left behind. I find his reflection in what he left behind. He has been my icon all my life.

Looking back, what would you tell a younger you?

I would tell myself to work harder and dream bigger.

What advice do you have for women who want to go into politics?

I always tell women to ask themselves what they actually want. This is what will make them discover what they want in life and place themselves where they belong. I see a lot of women getting confused along the line. I always advise women to know what they want and follow their dreams.

Munira Tanimu Suleiman, the entrepreneur, humanitarian and politician, was honoured as the “Phenomenal Woman of Worth 2018” by the African Women in Leadership Organization in Lagos recently.

The award is a well deserved feat for Munira as she has contributed immensely to various humanitarian causes, runs the Glam Hall, and ran for a seat in the House of Representatives as well.

She expressed how overjoyed she felt winning the award, where she captioned the photos of the occasion on Instagram saying, “What a great way to end my year. I was recognized and honoured in Lagos with an award of excellence as the Phenomenal Woman of Worth 2018.’ This recognition has not just put a smile on my face, but has encouraged me to do more for the people and continue my pursuit of happiness through the hearts of the less fortunate ones.”
