Niger Delta varsity to host SONTA 2019
The Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, will be the host of the 2019 edition of the confab for the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA).
President of SONTA, Professor Alex Chinwuba Asigbo, has commended members of staff of the Department of Theatre Arts, Niger Delta University, (NDU) Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, for constituting the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of SONTA 2019.
Asigbo who stated this in a release, said that constituting the LOC in less than two weeks, after the hosting right was given to NDU at SONTA FUOYE, which took place from 31stOctober to 3rdNovember, 2018, is an indication that SONTA NDUBayelsa 2019 promises to be a memorable event.
He advised the head of the theatre arts department, Dr. Ben Binebai and the LOC members to draw from the wealth of experience of senior colleagues, especially the SONTA Editor, Professor Barclays Ayakoroma.
Asigbo, also disclosed that as it is statutory, the SONTA 2019 LOC is expected to host the SONTA EXCO to an interactive meeting in the first quarter of 2019 in order to look at preliminary plans for various aspects of the conference, which is expected to hold sometime in October/November 2019.
The SONTA NDU-Bayelsa 2019 LOC, members include Dr. Christine Odi as chairperson, Dr. Kenneth Eni as secretary. Other members are Dr. Sunday Abraye, Dr. Rudolph Kansese, Dr. Tam Azorbo, Dr. Akpos Adesi, Mr. Charles Tambou, and Mr. Kingsley Ineritei.
