500 golfers storm Dutse for President Buhari cup qualifiers
About 300 golf players have stormed, Dutse, Jigawa state for North/West zonal qualifying series of Daily Trust President Muhammed Buhari golf tournament.
Participants, are expected for the tournament organized by Media Trust, the publishers of Daily Trust Newspaper from Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Jigawa states.
In his speach during the tee off of the competition in Dutse Royal Gulf Course, by the state governor Mohammadu Badaru Abubakar, the Captain of Dutse Royal Gulf Club, Babangida Gantsa, said at the end of the competition, the best 40 would be selected to represent the zone at national level of the tournament.
He also explained that prizes would be awarded to the best in the tournament that was expected to last for two days (Saturday and Sunday).
According to him, the better chunk of the participants would be coming from Kaduna state saying, the state was expected to be represented by five golf clubs.
“We are not expecting Kebbi state to participate in the zonal competition as there was no registered golf club from the state with the organizers of the competition. 300 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament.
“At the end of the two day competition, 40 best players that will represent the zone will emerged. It is also expected that deserving prizes will be awarded to the best 10 golfers as part of the activities for closing the zonal tournament,” he noted. Governor Badaru, who was briefly at the venue of the competition, performed the tee off ceremony of the tournament.
