Mum’s advice that has been with you over the years

You don’t really appreciate and understand your parents when they are trying to nurture you, maybe because my parents died relatively young. I appreciate all their upbringing. They are the ones that made me who I am today. They taught us to always have fate in ourselves and never look down on others. Advice to women Women are the backbone of every society, so they have a great role to play. As such, they should always strive to do the right thing and what is expected of them at all times and they will never go wrong. Favourite colour I realised that when I travel I buy a lot of navy-blue stuffs, sometimes purple, but I tend to buy a lot of navy-blue without realising it. I like dark colours. Favourite season I like harmattan and the rainy season because of the cold. I prefer the cold weather to heat. Favourite day of the week I enjoy my work, and that is why I don’t really have a favourite day. I don’t have reservations about Monday and the fact that I have to go to work like others do. I believe in what I am doing, what the governor is doing, and the fact that we are changing people’s lives.

Last good book you read and how it impacted on you?

I am presently reading the autobiography of Malcolm X and I really appreciate how events in his life changed his perspective on some of his beliefs. I also love to read mystery books, biographies and some Nigerian authors. I don’t really enjoy fantasy books. I also love to read Dan Browns’s books biographies on Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs. Beauty routine I have my bath, brush my teeth, then cleanse my face. I moisturise when it is very dry. I do not put on a lot of makeup, just normal eyeliner, powder and some lipstick. I cleanse my face every day because I feel if I do not cleanse my face, dirt will be stuck in the pores. I do not usually wear makeup on weekends; I just wash my face and allow my skin to breathe. Role model My parents, for the values they instilled in me.

What would you regard as a regret?

If I knew I would go into government, I would have wanted to widen my horizon, not just in law, but getting degrees in other areas. I would have expanded my field beyond law to get more skills and knowledge than I have now.

Most cherished fashion accessory

My mum’s jewellery. She had a very good taste in jewellery; I still have some of her old jewellery, which she bought in the 1970s. I can wear them now and nobody will know.

First app you check in the morning?

The first thing I do in the morning is go to my mail to see if I have something official I need to do before I go to work. Favourite music I have a wide range of music. I like jazz, hip-hop and rap, basically old and new school.

What won’t you be caught wearing?

I like to dress appropriately for my age. I am very conscious of what I put on. I always try to dress decently. 25
