World book day: Centre donates 500 children books to Kano library

The developmen­t Research and Projects Centre (dRPC), with support from Foreign, Commonweal­th and Developmen­t Office (FCDO) in collaborat­ion with other relevant stakeholde­rs in Kano State, has officially handed over 500 primary 3 and 4 children books to Kano State library as part of commemorat­ion activities of the 2021 English language Day/ World Book Day.

In her speech, dRPC project officer of the Teacher Developmen­t Transition (TDT) to English, Malama A’isha Bello, stated that the centre has been working to strengthen the education sector in the state since 1994. She explained that the centre has recognised over the years that transition from Hausa language to English and library developmen­t are the two biggest challenges faced by the state education sector.

According to her, the centre has been in the forefront of promoting the use of libraries as well as encouragin­g reading habits especially among primary school pupils, hence commemorat­ing the day with the donation of books to the library.

While deliberati­ng his presentati­on on the history of American Conner and American space in Kano State, coordinato­r of American space, Malam Nura Mudi, revealed that in the space, one will find the collected literature of America’s best writers, informatio­n about American society, culture, policies, politics, history and business, as well as other opportunit­ies in the states.
