- Compiled by Rosemary Etim

Using the right face cleanser: It’s important to note that a salicylic face gel or benzoyl peroxide wash works great for oily/ acne-prone skin while persons with dry skin can use a moistening glycolic or milky cleanser.

Do not use too much: It’s a known fact that layering the face with different products is a big no as it can lead to clogging pores and breakouts.

Moisture at all time: Moistening the face day and night is an essential tip that must be added to skincare, it’s important to use moisturizers that have little or no fragrance in order to avoid skin irritations.

Change your diet: No matter how luxurious or expensive the products, how many times it’s being used, one must always know that the food and drinks consumed play a role in how our skin looks. Switching from oily foods, soda drinks and baked confectioneries to a lot of vitamins, minerals and water will give your skin that natural and youthful glow.

Always Exfoliate: For your skin to glow, exfoliation is an important skincare routine. Exfoliation helps to promote youthful skin by removing layers of dead skin cells and cleansing out the pores.

Stop touching your face: Our hands have come in contact with different surfaces and have been in different places all day. It’s important to note that when we touch our faces constantly, we transfer these germs on to our skin, which can cause bad skin reactions or breakouts. That is why it’s important to always sanitize our hands regularly.

Stop pimple popping: Sometimes it’s hard to resist the urge to pop a pimple but it’s critical for one to know that this action can cause a spread of bacteria and leave dark spots on our faces.

Wash your makeup brushes regularly: Cleaning out our makeup brushes should be a biweekly routine as this will help fight skin infections and also clogged pores on our faces. Also, note that brushes should be washed with a gentle shampoo in order to avoid reactions on our faces.

Sunscreen should be your best friend: All year long, it’s important to always apply a layer of sunscreen on the face down to the neck. Sunscreen helps to protect the skin from the daily UV exposure that promotes skin ageing.

Personal Hygiene: It doesn’t matter how good your skin routine is or how much sleeping time you get in a day. If you keep sleeping on dirty pillowcases, your routine will not work. Swap out those old pillowcases for some clean ones today.

Using Vitamin-C: Vitamin is one of the best antioxidants in skincare, it’s known for protecting the skin against factors that cause ageing. Vit-c is also known to be a sun-protecting agent and helps in brightening the skin too.
