Kidnappers kill minor after collecting N5m ransom

Residents of Badarawa, a community in Kaduna metropolis, were thrown into confusion after kidnappers killed a minor identified as Muhammad Kabir after collecting N5million from his parents.
The victim was abducted from his parent’s residence at Badarawa, a suburb of Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state but his body was found inside a drainage in Kano after about a week’s search, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered.
Residents said the boy’s abductor was his father’s neighbour who connived with another resident of the area, ex-military personnel to commit the atrocity.
Sources in the community also told Daily Trust on Sunday that immediately the boy was declared missing, a search for him was done for days before a call came in from the kidnappers, demanding for N50m, but finally agreed at N5m after much negotiation.
Abdulrahman Kabir Magayaki, a brother to the victim, told Daily Trust on Sunday that the late Mohammed was taken away from their house to Zaria, from there to Kano State, where his body was retrieved after the ransom of N5m was paid.
He said the victim’s body was brought back to Kaduna and buried according to Islamic rites yesterday.
Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the victim must have been killed after recognising the faces of his abductors since they were all living in the area.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the incident, said three suspects had been arrested in connection to the crime, including the neighbour.
