RE: Breakdown of trains on Abuja-Kaduna route embarrassing

- Abbati Dankanti Gumel

Your editorial comment which appeared in the Daily Trust newspaper of Friday 9th July, 2021 on the Abuja - Kaduna train services was a welcome development. The trains were deliberately and persistently being allowed to delay the commuters along the Abuja to Kaduna route.

Inasmuch as I regard and recognize the importance of this rail route necessary to serve as an alternative to Abuja-Kaduna highway in view of the frequent attacks by the bandits, kidnappers, terrorists, etc there cannot be some disgruntled elements within our midst who do not want the survival of the country but act negligently and with utmost unseriousness to allow fabricated or refurbished trains broken down from one station to another. This is disheartening and unacceptable to the new world which digitalized the operations of modern train services in other countries.

As the Editorial rightly pointed out, “People must get value for money spent” which the higher authority of the railway management team must adhere strictly to observe and protect the integrity of all Nigerians.

Otherwise, we will regard the actions and the inactions of the railway management to be a sabotage on the federal government not to spread the railway transport system across the country.
