Government careless about Nigerians’ safety

- Abdulrahman Yunusa Bauchi

With the scary level of deteriorating insecurity in Nigeria, one can never be sure of one’s safety, except the Abuja high profile personalities who are wallowing in exotic terrains and enjoying special security just for being leaders.

Just last week, an Army general was killed by gunmen. This is a clear indication that Nigeria is a scam. If a whole general could be illegally eliminated and the culprit’s identity remains unrevealed with government not doing anything to fish out the ‘devils’ and punish them, then what do you expect if an ordinary citizen falls a victim?

If you think they would be proactive enough by securing our lives, you are joking. Any government that doesn’t care about the plight of the elite will never care about challenges bedevilling a common man.

There was a time the corpse of one notable general was found in a village near Jos but nothing was done to thekillers. All these horrible things happen under the watchful eyes of government, but they don’t do anything about it. Yet, they claim that they are fighting insecurity and terrorism.

I had woken up with a terrible news that a huge number of repented terrorists (BH boys) were being released clandestinely after going through a rehabilitation in Borno. If it is true, we won’t be astonished because we have seen such unusual moves in this country in the past. Many of such have been released and got integrated into their communities and sadly, the usual job continues unabatedly.
