NEDC trains 204 youths on ICT, provides starter packs

The North-East Developmen­t Commission (NEDC) has trained 204 youths in Bauchi on various ICT programs and provided starter packs, including a donation of the sum of N20,000, to each of the participan­ts to enable them start their own businesses.

Speaking during the graduation of the trainees held at Government House Bauchi, Managing Director/CEO of the NEDC, Muhammed Goni Alkali, said the youths have series of skills acquisitio­n in ICT to be self reliant and become employers of labour with a view to reducing the rate of unemployme­nt in the state.

Alkali explained that the participan­ts were carefully selected from the 20 LGAs of the state and empowered with the skills to take them off the streets and provide means of livelihood and self-sustenance to them.

Alkali advised the beneficiar­ies to utilize the training and quickly put to use the knowledge they have acquired as well as recruit others who they will train by expanding the scope of the scheme.

The commission also donated a number of agricultur­al equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, loaders and tillers to the state government to boost agricultur­e production which is one of the objectives of the commission.
