How to Make a DIY Body Scrub and Face Mask
When you hit a rough patch with your skin, a body scrub can be just what you need to revive any dullness. Body scrubs contain exfoliating ingredients that have a texture you can feel, such as sugar, salt or coffee. Getting rid of the dead cells that make skin look rough and textured, body scrubs help soften and brighten your skin. When you exfoliate your skin, you make it softer.
Here are some DIY body scrubs you can make at home:
Salt Body Scrub: Salt is known to have natural-occurring minerals that make it a great choice for a scrub. Combining the salt with a natural oil such as olive oil, avocado oil, walnut oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil will make the scrub more moisturizing.
Procedure
· Place 1 cup of fine Himalayan salt in a bowl
· Measure out 1/2 cup of olive oil, or your favourite natural oil
· Add oil by the spoonful until you achieve a consistency you like
· You can also add a few drops of essential oil for scent
Coconut Sugar Oatmeal Body Scrub: This scrub will clear dry flakes and enhance skin renewal. Oatmeal is also known as a natural moisturizer and also helps in softening the surface of the skin.
Procedure
· Melt 2 to 3 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pot or bowl, or use your favourite oil at room temperature.
· Combine with 1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
· Stir in one-quarter cup of raw oats
· Use the scrub within a day before the oats become too soft
Avocado Honey Body Scrub: Avocado contains a high amount of vitamins and antioxidants that nourish the skin. Avocado oil is also known to be naturally soothing and honey has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
Procedure
· Mash 1/2 whole avocado, 3 teaspoons of honey, and 2 tablespoons of cornmeal in a bowl
· Gently massage the scrub onto damp skin
· Rinse off with warm water.
Cream and Almond Body Scrub: For deeply moisturizing exfoliation, this scrub combines the soothing hydration of cream and oatmeal with the texture of the almond meal. The cream may also have exfoliating properties since it contains lactic acid.
Procedure
· Blend 1/4 cup of oats until fine. · Mix with 2 tablespoons of almond meal, 1/2 cup of heavy cream, and 1 tablespoon of honey.
