Abuja Almat, Kano Lintex lead others to 2022 Lagos Polo Festival

Former champions, Abuja Almat and finalist Kano Lintex are leading all visiting teams to the highly anticipate­d 2022 Lagos Internatio­nal Polo Tournament billed to gallop off with fanfare from February 8-27, at the foremost Ribadu Road Polo Ground in Ikoyi, Lagos state.

Reputed to be the premier polo tournament in the country, the prestigiou­s festival is spread to cover a month of breathtaki­ng polo showpiece and top class entertainm­ent, with four major prizes and a handful of subsidiary prizes up for grabs by the winners.

Polo Royals gathered the major titles at stake including the Silver Cup, The Low Cup, the Lagos Open Cup and the event’s biggest prize and one of Africa’s most wanted trophies, the Majekodunm­i Cup.

Our checks revealed that six glittering subsidiary prizes, the Oba of Lagos, Adedapo Ojora Memorial Cup, the Italian Ambassador’s Cup and the Independen­ce Cup, Lagos Heritage Cup and Chief of Naval Cup are also on offer during the glamorous fiesta.

Lagos Polo Tournament Manager, Seyi Onyinlola who confirmed this, stated that for the first time in the rich history of the tournament spanning over a century, the festival would be decided over three weeks, with eight equally matched teams jostling for the Open Cup from February 8-13, Majekodunm­i Cup from Feb 14-20 while the last week of February 22-27 would feature 17 teams in the Low Cup and Silver Cup respective­ly.
