Italian envoy thumbs-up 2022 Lagos Polo Tournament

The 2022 Lagos International Polo Tournament which climaxes today has been rated as one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world.

Deputy Consul General of Italy in Nigeria, Grazia Bellanova who made this remark in a chat with Polo Royals in Lagos, noted that the participation of professional polo players across the world and the entry of over thirty teams makes the prestigious Lagos polo tournament the biggest in the continent.

The Italian envoy who was one of the Special Guest of Honour in the finals of the Italian Ambassador Cup at the prestigious festival also singled out the organizers and host, the Lagos Polo Club for its unalloyed commitment to the promotion of the noble game of polo that has positively impacted the promotion of the game around the country.

Bellanova was particularly thrilled that the international fiesta that featured players from Europe, Argentina and South Africa has thrown up many Nigerian players with awesome talents and horsemanship who are destined to become some of the world’s best players in the near future.

She told Polo Royals the centurylong involvement of Lagos Polo Club in partnership with the Italian Embassy in the promotion of the King of Games and tourism has helped in redirecting the energies of the youth and engaging them positively.

Polo Royals can also disclosed that Bellanova and the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Stefano Pontesilli, alongside Corporate executives, traditional rulers and politicians who witnessed the final game of the cup where Kano Lintex defeated Lagos Centaur 9-5 to clinch their first-ever Italian Ambassador Cup title.
