- Compiled by Rosemary Etim Bassey

Healthy beard habits are essential for maintaining the healthiest possible facial hair and skin. It takes time, patience, and a consistent care routine to grow a nice beard. Taking time to take care of your facial hair has many advantages, including improving your appearance and preventing oil build up and dry, itchy skin.

Maintaining a consistent grooming routine will train your hair to lie in the desired manner, making overall upkeep easier. As soon as you make the decision to grow a beard, you should begin maintaining it. To ensure that the hair grows in evenly, you should repress the impulse to trim, style, or totally shave your face for the first 4-6 weeks. However, this does not imply you should wait until then to begin using a beard care routine and beard care products.

Follow these beard care guidelines and you’ll have a healthy, great-looking beard:

Wash your beards regularly: Beauty experts advise cleaning your beard roughly twice a week, but depending on your skin type and level of activity, this may need to be altered. You shouldn’t wash your beard with ordinary shampoo because the hair on your face is likely to be considerably rougher than the hair on the rest of your body. At least once a week, use a beard softener after your wash to replenish your skin’s essential moisture.

Dry your beards: Your hair follicles experience more tension and stress the longer water remains on your beard. If you decide to use a towel as your drying tool, be careful to pat your beard dry rather than rubbing it. When damp, your hair follicles are more fragile, so it’s crucial to treat them gently. In addition to damaging hair follicles, vigorous rubbing can tangle your beard hairs and even rip them out.

Soften your beards: Your beard needs moisture if it is prickly, itchy, or if it has beard ruff. Consistent grooming practises and the use of moisturising creams might assist ease discomfort.

Apply beard oil: A beard’s best buddy is definitely beard oil. It is not only easy to use, but it also maintains your skin and beard soft, moisturised, and manageable. Additionally, it has a wonderful scent and gives your beard a shine that shows everyone you take good care of it. Beard oil should be your first choice in the morning if you just have time for one product. Apply it immediately to your beard after first massaging it into your palms. Use your fingers to smooth it evenly through your hair and down to your face skin.

Brush and comb your beards:

Your beard will be healthier overall if you know how to properly brush or comb it. When towel-damp or first thing in the morning, brushing your beard provides volume, smoothness, and sheen while also dispersing your skin’s natural oils and exfoliating the skin underneath. Beard combs easily detangle and style longer beard hairs while comfortably gliding through moist strands.

Trim your beards: Regular trimming will keep your beard in the desired form, promote healthy beard development, and guarantee a bigger, fuller beard. To get things going, use a comb or brush to detangle the hairs in your beard and direct them downward. Grab your beard shears to trim the stache and any remaining hairs if you are satisfied with the length. For large parts of lengthier lengths, a beard trimmer works well.
