Pros and cons of waxing

- Compiled by Rosemary Etim Bassey

Your method of hair removal is unquestionably a highranking component of your cosmetic regimen. For clean and smooth legs, armpits, faces, and bikini lines, women of all ages shave and wax. For days when you want soft skin, you have a variety of hair removal options, including epilators, body waxing, depilatory creams, or shaving. Waxing is the most popular and dependable hair removal treatment, and it has both pros and disadvantages. Here are some:

PROS Skin

nourishment: Waxing has a wide range of additional benefits. The chemicals employed during the session serve as strong antioxidants and cleansers. To remove the top layer, the skin also goes through a gentle exfoliation operation. Waxing minimises unnecessary injury to the skin by providing protection, proper hydration, and a relaxing effect.

No razor burn: Waxing is always a better alternative because at least you won’t get razor burn all over your body. For instance, having visible razor burn in the pubic region is almost as unattractive as having small hairs protrude. This is also true if you have sensitive skin on other regions of your body because waxing, which only eliminates hair, causes less irritation than shaving, which also removes the top layer of skin cells. Not to mention that having ingrown hairs would be incredibly painful. Waxing can almost probably be used to safely avoid those irritating, little red spots.

Hair removal last longer: The majority of body parts can be treated with this technique, which is regarded as a practical, secure, and effective option. Because waxing removes hair from the root, its advantages usually outlast those of other temporary hair removal methods. Additionally, hair begins to grow back smoother and shorter after a few waxing treatments. It is also efficient at removing short hairs.

CONS Pain:

Everyone is aware that pain is the main disadvantage. During the waxing process, every hair is pulled out of its own follicle. Actually, they are removing dozens or even hundreds of hairs from your skin at once. It stings a little, as you might expect. Even if you gradually get used to it, there is still some discomfort while removing hair from the skin, especially in delicate areas.

Time: It is undeniable that shaving saves time and gives you the flexibility to use your razor whenever you need to. While waxing does require extra preparation and takes a little longer. Waxing can take a while depending on your preference, especially if you want to cover your entire body. In addition to clearing your schedule so you can focus on your waxing session, if you decide to walk in, there is a good chance you may have to wait for an appointment for several hours.

Bumps and mild bleeding:

Pulling on the pores may cause the area that has been waxed to become rough. After a few days, bumps frequently go away on their own, but applying aloevera helps hasten the skin’s recovery. Bleeding is another regular adverse effect, which is obviously concerning for some people, especially for those waxing the thin skin on their faces. If the bleeding is slight, it should stop quite quickly, giving you no reason to be alarmed or to worry about permanent scars.
