PDM appoints Aghanya, Oko South-East zonal leaders
The South-East chapter of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) yesterday in Enugu, appointed former national publicity secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Mr. Dennis Aghanya and Engr. Chris Agha Oko as chairman and secretary for the zone, respectively.
Leaders of the party announced the development in a communique issued at the end of the South East PDM stakeholders committee jointly signed by the 11-member stakeholders committee of the five states of the zone including, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo.
It added that various state committee members of the party have been mandated to identify individuals, groups or associations who operate in the name of PDM within the zone for the purpose of harmonization of membership.
“The 11-Man Stakeholders Committee per state of the zone or an enlargement or a harmonized version of it shall continue to administer the party in the various states of the zone under the chairmanship and secretary as may be nominated by the committee members from within them until congresses are held to elect EXCO members.
The 11-man stakeholders committee of each of the states of the zone were also mandated to select from amongst them a temporary chairman and secretary and forward same to the zonal leader, who after consultations with other stakeholders in the zone will forward same to the national leadership of the party for consideration and approval,” the communique revealed.
It was also resolved that the proposed zonal party secretariat should be located at Enugu while other state party secretariats in the zone worked with the arrangement until approval from the national leadership of party ratifies the decision or seeks for amendments.
