Gaidam donates to slain officers’ families
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State yesterday donated N3 million to families of two officers and a soldier who were killed by the Boko Haram insurgents in the state. The governor presented cheques for N1 million to each family and advised them to take solace and continue to pray for the deceased.
Gaidam who made the donation during the Army Remembrance Day yesterday in Damaturu praised the gallantry of the military in various peace keeping operations out over the years.
He assured that his administration would continue to accord the military the necessary cooperation in the search for lasting peace in the state and the country as a whole. Families of the officers that benefited from the gesture included those of late Captain Umar, Lieutenant G. B. Dala and Private Haruna Mamuda.
Gaidam also performed the laying of wreath in memory of the fallen heroes with the Commander of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Damaturu, a representative of the Director of State Security Service, Commissioner of Police, the chairman council of chiefs, chairman Nigerian Legion in Yobe State and a representative of widows of deceased personnel.
