C’wealth council launches anti-election violence initiative
The Commonwealth Foundation and the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) have agreed on a partnership to promote the Youth Campaign Again Election Violence (Y-CAEV) project across commonwealth coun-tries. The initiative will soon be launched across all member commonwealth nations as a platform for “youth engagement in participatory governance” a statement issued by the CYC chairperson Ahmed Adamu said yesterday.
The meeting which was facilitated by the Commonwealth Youth Programme, provided the opportunity for both organizations to share their activities and “programmes with a view to exploring potentials for joint-collaboration, in support of young people in the Commonwealth,” it said.
In attendance were the Director of the Commonwealth Foundation, Vijay Krishnarayan; Chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council, Ahmed Adamu; Deputy Director of the Commonwealth Foundation, Myn Garcia; Director of Youth Affairs Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Katherine Ellis and Programme Manager of the Commonwealth Foundation, Diana Atungire-Ocaya.
According to the statement the meeting focused on Commonwealth Youth Council’s potentials in helping to enhance youth-led projects, awareness and capacities of youth organisations to access funding from the Commonwealth Foundation’s grant programme and the promotion of national and regional youth participation in policy makings etc.
