Peace foundation tasks Nigerians on national pledge
A non-governmental organization, Foundation for World Peace, have called on Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of the National Pledge and the culture of peace and unity to move the country forward.
National Coordinator of the Foundation, Chief Chibuzor Victor who spoke at a rally in Abuja said with the forthcoming 2015 elections ahead, the foundation aims to imbibe the importance of peace in Nigeria for unity, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Archbishop Samson Mustapha, lead speaker at the event called for the practical application of the virtues of the National Pledge which calls for loyalty, honest, servitude, upholding integrity and honour and urged against things that will create chaos.
In his remarks, Peace Ambassador, Alhaji Musa Saidu, who is the Chairman, ARewa Consultative Forum for South-South and South-East said events in recent times pose a challenge to Nigeria’s corporate existence but that the unity of the country according to him cannot be compromised.
Umar Ibrahim, Chief Imam of Lugbe said he grew up in Jos, Plateau State without any religious bias and called on Nigerians to live peacefully with one another despite the machinations of the devil’s attempt to divide them.
In his sermon, Archbishop Sam Eke, said what Nigeria needed was to build bridges of peace adding that the scriptures said that peacemakers shall inherit the kingdom of God and also “he that sows peace shall reap peace”.
