21 defunct parties join Kaduna PDP
A total of 21 out of 28 political parties de-registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state.
INEC had in December 2012 proscribed 28 parties based on nonperformance saying the ban was in accordance with exercise of the powers conferred on it by the 1999 constitution.
The state chairmen of the parties led by Alhaji Inuwa Ahmed of the United Nigeria Peoples Party (UNPP) said at a media briefing in Kaduna that the “G-21” resolved to join the PDP to contribute in ensuring unity and progress in the state.
Those that joined include; Alhaji Inuwa (UNPP), Lucky Ola National Solidarity Democratic Party (NSDP), Mohammed Murtala Abubakar Movement for Democracy and Justice (MDJ), Salisu Shuaib Action Party of Nigeria (APN), Idris Inuwa Community Party of Nigeria (CPN), Bello Abdulhamid Justice Party (JP), Mrs. E. Oga (CAP), Ahmed Isah Nuhu National Reformation Party (NRP), Isah Hassan (NDP), Musa Gambo Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and Adamu Aliyu Danjuma African Liberation Party (ALP).
Others are Emmanuel Ikulewe Peoples Progressive Party (PPP), Suleiman Abdullahi People’s Salvation Party (PSP), Garba Suleiman (NAC), Sunday Oibe National Majority Democratic Party (NMDP), Ahmed Umar (ARP), Aminu Katcha United National Party for Development (UNPD), Yusuf Adamu Republican Party of Nigeria (RPN), Sule Adams Progressive Action Congress (PAC), Ibrahim Mohammed New Democrats (ND) and Abdulmalik Musa Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
Chairman of NDP Hassan said “we have decided to extend our cooperation and hands of friendship to the PDP. We have been working with the PDP for the past 12 years unabated and we have joined the party today officially.”
PDP Chairman Dr. A.G Hassan said “we are gathered here to negotiate with 21 political parties and they have agreed to give their support to the unity and development of Kadun a state.”
He said the party will organize a reception ceremony at a later date for the defecting parties.
