Bauchi PDP chieftain calls for truce with defecting members

- From Ahmed Mohammed, Bauchi

A chieftain of the PDP in Bogoro local government area of Bauchi State and 2015 State House of Assembly aspirant, MB Makama, has appealed to the national leader of the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Isa Yuguda, national and State leaders of the party to re-strategize and broker truce with all members that defected to other parties.

Makama said one of such credible members is Rep Yakubu Dogara who recently defected from PDP to All Peoples Congress (APC) .

In a press release, Makama opined that the recent defection of Dogara if wished away may affect the political fortune of the party in the area.

“PDP leadership at the national and state levels should initiate an emergency meeting with all aggrieved members to broker truce for return to the fold they jointly built over the years. The PDP should not allow the likes of Dogara to remain in opposition in view of his record of achievements to the people he represents”, he said

According to Makama, as 2015 election year approaches and with several crises threatening the fortune of the PDP, the party should strive to re-strategize by retaining its members than allowing defection to opposition parties that may eventually affect its electoral fortune, adding that, “some of us that have contributed positively to the success of the party since 1999 should not be ignored or frustrated to warrant a defection.
