Tukur’s resignation: Ogun PDP chair blames governors

- From Kehinde Akinyemi, Abeokuta

Ogun State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Bayo Dayo, has attributed the fall of the immediate past PDP national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to the conspiracy of PDP governors.

Dayo who described the development as unfortunate said because governors are funding the party, they believe they must control the entire structure of the party both at the state and national levels.

The chairman, while explaining the cause of the crises within the party said unlike Tukur who believed in the party’s, supremacy over all elected officials, the governors want to be the ones controlling the party.

“The development is quite unfortunate because personally speaking, Bamanga Tukur is a very nice leader, but the governor’s are fighting for the soul of PDP and because they do a lot of funding into the party, so they want to control it” he said.

The chairman maintained that the party will be missing the knowledge and fatherly role of Bamanga Tukur, praying God to give the party another leader that will lead it to success in the coming elections.

Dayo berated the party for incessant sacking of its leadership, adding that the party should for once elect someone who will lead for a very long time.

“I strongly believe that when somebody is elected, he should be given the chance to prove his worth, we discourage people if we continue to remove them all the time without allowing them to complete their tenure,” he said.
